Gullermo Del Toro’s (Shape of Water, Hellboy movies) character is “Deadman”. They lend their likenesses to the game but most of the mocap and voice work was done by others. Rounding out the main cast are two people known as well known movie directors. She also has a twin sister Lockne, also Qualley. There’s a reason for the name, although that’d be spoiling too much. Sam’s main equipment expert (Sort of like Q in James Bond) is “Mama” (Marqeret Qualley). Despite also sporting a spooky mask like Higgs, he’s a much nicer guy…most of the time, although he has some dark secrets of his own. Sam’s also got a support staff, not unlike those utilized in the Metal Gear games. Sam also finds himself transported via strange storms to historical battlefields, where he confronts Clifford Unger (Mads Mikkelsen, Hannibal, Casino Royale, Rogue One), who bears a resemblance to the man in BB’s memories, and his undead soldiers. …Higgs (Troy Baker) a guy who wears a death masks and a cloak with Egyptian stylings, and needs Amelie for a mysterious purpose. Amelie has apparently been kidnapped while trying to establish the Chiral network by… Lindsey Wagner would have the dual role of Bridget, Sam’s adopted mother,and her daughter Amelie (although Amelie’s voice would be provided by actress Emily O’ Brien). Lea Sedoux would be one of the female leads, as “Fragile” who has the ability to “warp” to different locations… Later trailers would show off more actors and characters. Although as I’ll elaborate in a further article, you have some help. Of course, with BTs flaring up all around the place (especially places heavy with death such as destroyed cities), a difficult to transverse landscape altered by the Death Stranding, and also package thieves called “Mules”, it’s not going to be easy…not to mention you’re carrying often heavy packages at the same time. What’s worse, the weather has gotten deadly too. Several of these voidouts have destroyed most cities and the landscape, with humans either in a handful of cities called “Knots” or in survival bunkers and shelters. When people die, their bodies decay now sets off massive explosions known as “voidouts” unless the body is quickly incinerated. Basically, America (and quite possibly the rest of the world, it’s not made clear) has been irreparably changed by an event known as the Death Stranding that somehow connected the world of the living to a dimension of the dead, a purgatory of sorts known as “The beach”. Reedus plays the role of Sam Porter bridges, a man with a mysterious past who delivers packages. Although this never panned out due to Kojima’s relationship with Konami going south, Kojima obviously kept Norman in mind for a future project…
Reedus was originally slated to star in an earlier Kojima/Konami game, “Silent Hills” for which a playable demo/prologue was developed, “P.T”. It featured him with a baby, a weird necklace of what kind of looked like USBs, a beach of oily dead crabs and whales, weird handprints and other weird stuff in general. A trailer was soon released.įrom the outset, it was obvious that the project would star Norman Reedus, best known as Daryl, the rough but loyal loner on AMC’s “The Walking Dead”. In 2016, they announced their first new project with this new arrangement: Death Stranding. In 2015, Hideo Kojima, creator, co-writer and director of the Metal Gear Solid series, left his traditional gaming partner, Konami (as for why, that’s a whole other thing), and his studio, Kojima productions, became independent.
